Here’s The Thing M.F.A. Thesis Exhibition
The Warehouse Gallery, Syracuse, NY
March 2026
Press Release:
Here’s the Thing brings together seventeen M.F.A. candidates from the School of Art and Department of Film and Media Arts within Syracuse University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts. The result of years of rigorous introspection, experimentation, and scholarly research, this two-part exhibition marks the culmination of each artist’s academic journey. Across disciplines of digital media, film, illustration, painting, printmaking, and virtual reality, part one is unified by overarching themes of human existence and cultural identity. On view is a collective insistence on asking hard questions, following unexpected paths, and refusing to settle for easy answers.
The works in Here's the Thing are connected by their mission to challenge universal complexities. These emerging artists have arrived at their practices from vastly different means, yet unexpected connections surface with a deep belief in the power of art to make visible what might otherwise remain elusive.
Exhibiting artists in part one of this exhibition series are Umar Bashir, Teddy X. Berg, Atienah Cape, Sophia Hashemi, David Kossack, Sarah Rokh, Marianna Smith, and Carl Voss.
